World Series Street Closure and Parking Information

The City of Houston is working with law enforcement and transportation agencies to coordinate traffic closures and security ahead of the Astros’ return to Minute Maid Park for the next round of World Series games.

Street Closures

Houston residents should be aware of the following closures around Minute Maid Park beginning Friday and lasting through the weekend:

Red: Closures
Orange: Approved Detours

People coming downtown to celebrate the World Series or attend the games should plan ahead, and if possible, avoid driving into downtown if possible.  The City is recommending residents either use METRO Rail or Taxi/Rideshare services to get to/from Minute Maid Park.  That is the easiest, cheapest way to get to the park as parking costs are increasingly expensive for this event.

Parking Near Minute Maid

If you do chose to drive into downtown and find parking nearby, be sure to:

  • Have sufficient cash to pay for parking, which can exceed $60 on some lots
  • Find the first available parking lot and walk.  Attempting to drive around Minute Maid Park to find a closer lot will result in more traffic in the area, and will take longer.
  • Observe the directions of all law enforcement and traffic enforcement officers.
  • Designate a sober driver to ensure you get home safely. DWI enforcement has been stepped up around the Houston area as a result of the games.

Parking in Downtown Houston

The City of Houston Parking Management Division reminds visitors and residents that Parking enforcement will be operating normally during the World Series, so observe all posted signs and bagged meters.

Also, please remember that some garages near Buffalo Bayou, specifically near the Theatre District are still being repaired following Harvey, and remain closed.
